Discord has no discovery to speak of. There is no feed, no recommendation engine, no equivalent of a For You page pushing your server at strangers. People arrive through an invite link — from a YouTube description, a tweet, a friend — and then make one decision very fast: is anyone actually here?

That decision is made on a number Discord puts directly in front of them, and it is not the member count.

Online members are the number that matters

Every server preview shows two figures: total members and members online. Newcomers read the second one. A server with 40,000 members and 30 online is transparently a graveyard, and it looks worse than a server with 400 members and 60 online, because the first one is visibly a list somebody bought.

This is the inversion that catches people out. On Instagram the headline number is the follower count. On Discord the headline number is who is here right now, and total members without online presence is actively counterproductive.

Boosts are the one thing here that is not cosmetic

Everything else on this page changes how a server is perceived. Boosts change what the server can do. Level 1 unlocks better audio quality and more emoji slots; Level 2 adds a custom invite link and higher upload limits; Level 3 adds more again.

For a community that runs voice channels — gaming, study groups, trading rooms — audio quality is not a vanity feature. It is the difference between people staying in the channel and leaving. This makes boosts the most defensible spend on this page.

Discord's rules are about behaviour, not counts

Discord enforces against spam, raids, and self-bot automation far more than against how a server's membership was assembled. What gets servers actioned is what the accounts do — mass DMs, scam links — not that they exist.

What no service can do here

It cannot start a conversation. This is the honest limit of Discord growth: the entire value of a server is that people talk in it, and no panel produces conversation. Online members make the room look occupied; they do not fill it.

It cannot retain anyone. Discord retention comes from moderation, events, and someone actually being present to reply. A server that looks busy and then proves silent loses the person faster than one that looked small.

What it can do is get you past the first two seconds — which, given Discord has no discovery, is the step where most servers die.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between members and online members?

Members is the total who have ever joined and not left. Online members is who is showing as active right now. Visitors judge on the second one, which is why a big total with almost nobody online reads worse than a small server.

Do server boosts expire?

Yes. Boosts are subscription-based and the level drops when they lapse. Treat them as a running cost for the features they unlock, not a permanent upgrade.

Will members actually chat?

No, and any service claiming otherwise is misrepresenting what it sells. These accounts make the server look populated. Conversation comes from your real community and your moderation.

Can Discord ban my server for this?

Discord's enforcement targets behaviour — spam, raiding, scam links, self-bots. Membership composition is not what typically triggers action. That describes how enforcement has worked, not a promise about your server.

Do I need to change my server settings first?

You need an invite link that does not expire and has no use limit, otherwise delivery stops partway. Check that before ordering — it is the most common reason an order stalls.

New to this? Ordering takes four steps — create an account, add funds, paste a public link, track it. No password is involved at any point.
